There are the benefits of working with a partner who has been around long enough to thoroughly understand every refined detail of automotive exterior surface finishing. With 3M™ Cubitron™ II, Trizact™, Finesse-It™ and Wetordry™ brands, we provide industry-leading abrasives, pads and polishes that enable performance and process efficiencies at every step, from initial sand to final polish.
An integral part of the paint repair system, our selection of 3M™ Finesse-It™ Buffing Pads are designed for specific stages of OEM defect repair and paint finishing. Moderately aggressive foam pads are designed for use with 3M™ Finesse-it™ polishes for satin, semi-gloss or high-gloss finishes. Each one features a convolute surface, which provides more contact than flat pads and minimizes heat buildup. Our 3M™ Hookit™ attachment system makes pad mounting and removal fast and easy.
Our portfolio of flexible, durable discs is available with conventional abrasives, our Precision-Shaped Grain (PSG) technology or diamond abrasives. Our conformable film backing produces uniform finishes on flat surfaces and around subtle curves and contours.
3M brings some of our highest abrasive technology to a system for small area defect repair. Often used for repairing minor clear coat defects, this system includes 3M™ Trizact™ brand abrasives. These discs feature microreplication technology – tiny structures containing micron-graded silicon carbide abrasive minerals that are formed on a non-compressible polyester backing. As these pyramids wear, fresh, sharp mineral is continually exposed to give you a consistent cut, long abrasive life and a predictable, fine finish. When used with our 3M™ Finesse-It™ polishes and buffing pads, developed for use on OEM and baked refinish paints, they quickly and efficiently remove defects, sand scratches and swirl marks.
For lower-cost automotive finishing, 3M provides aluminum oxide abrasive discs on durable light, A-weight paper backing that provides conformability for detailed work on primers, metal and plastics.
There’s a 3M™ Finesse-It™ polish for every stage of your exterior surface finishing. Developed as part of a complete paint repair system with our 3M™ Finesse-It™ Buffing Pads and 3M™ Trizact™ Finesse-It™ Abrasives, these polishes remove micro-grade scratches and defects in many OEM applications. Many are available in 8 oz bottles, which is ideal for testing and evaluation.
