3M™ Dyneon™ Base Resistant Elastomer BRE 7231 is a terpolymer of tetrafluoroethylene, propylene and vinylidene fluoride with a 60% fluorine content. This fluoroelastomer (FKM) offers improved resistance to high-amine oils and lubes, coolants and transmission fluids compared to other type 1 and type 2 FKMs.
Offering Improved Multi fluid Resistance
Since 3M™ Dyneon™ Base Resistant Elastomer BRE 7231 boasts improved base resistance, it is a good choice for applications including engine, transmission, transfer case or different shaft seals, or as a rubber coating for cylinder head gaskets that require multi fluid resistance to engine oils and coolants.
Dyneon base resistant elastomer BRE 7231 can be compounded using standard water cooled internal mixers or two roll mills with standard fillers and ingredients utilized in typical fluoroelastomer formulations. The dry ingredients should be blended before adding to the masticated gum. For best results, BRE 7231 should be banded on the mill prior to adding the blended dry ingredients. Once mixed, the compounded stocks have good scorch resistance and storage stability.
Different Quantities to Meet the Needs of the Job
Dyneon base resistant elastomer BRE 7231 is packaged in slab form and is available in a returnable bulk shipping container system for 1,320 Ibs (600 kg) of material. The bulk container system is comprised of 48 individual polyethylene bags containing 27.5 Ibs (12.5 kg) of product. Smaller quantities are available in 55.1 Ib (25.0 kg) boxes.
