Highlights
  • Proprietary incorporated cure technology may help save time and improve throughput
  • Broad chemical and temperature resistance for durability and product longevity
  • Versatile use in a number of applications – transfer and compression molding, bonded seals and calendering
  • Excellent release and hot tear properties essential for demolding complex geometric profiles and parts containing severe undercuts

3M™ Dyneon™ Fluoroelastomer FC 2144 is a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and hexafluoropropylene. This fluoroelastomer (FKM) has an incorporated cure with 66% fluorine content. This medium viscosity product has low permeation, and excellent release and hot tear properties that are essential for demolding complex geometric profiles and parts containing severe undercuts.

Excellent Release for Complex Geometric Profiles

3M™ Dyneon™ Fluoroelastomer FC 2144 can be compounded using standard water cooled internal mixers or two roll mills with standard fillers and ingredients utilized in typical fluoroelastomer formulations. The dry ingredients should be blended before adding to the masticated gum. For best results, Dyneon fluoroelastomer FC 2144 should be banded on the mill several minutes prior to adding the blended dry ingredients. Once mixed, the compounded stocks have good scorch resistance and storage stability.

This clean running fluoroelastomer has a number of notable features beginning with broad chemical and temperature resistance: 18°C ( 0.4°F) to 250°C (482°F). In addition, the proprietary incorporated cure technology may help save time and improve throughput. Dyneon fluoroelastomer FC 2144 has medium viscosity, low permeation and a fluorine content of 66%. Importantly, the excellent release and hot tear properties are essential for demolding complex geometric profiles and parts containing severe undercuts. With these attributes, FC 2144 can be used for a number of applications – transfer and compression molding, bonded seals, and calendering.

The Right Size to Fit the Job

This product is sold in different sizes, so compounders and formulators can pick the right size for the job. FC 2144 is packaged in milled slab form (as opposed to unmilled forms like crumb) and is available in a returnable bulk shipping container system for 1,320 Ibs. (600 kg) of material. The bulk container system is comprised of 48 individual polyethylene bags containing 27.5 Ibs. (12.5 kg) of product. Smaller quantities are available in 55.1 Ib (25.0 kg) boxes.
