Designing a prominent building like the Otemachi Park Building is an exciting challenge for any designer – the project included office spaces that supported diverse work styles, and service apartments that marked the launch of Ascott’s top-quality brand of apartments in Tokyo – the “Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo” and a lush community square “Hotoria Plaza”.

The designer of the Otemachi Park Building wanted to express the urban “Zen” style that is a modern adaptation of the more traditional Japanese Zen concept.

Balance and harmony between lighting and nature that embodies a design ethic that truly blends modernity with natural elements.
Spaces that are calming and grounded, rejuvenating and balanced, without looking clichéd or formal – the minimalistic principle of Zen adapted to modern design principles.
